UPSC CSAT-2011 Cutoff will be at Record Low

www.Goindocal.com

The CSAT -2011 has been successfully conducted by the high profile Central Government recruiter of the India with the brand new pattern.

The UPSC had given the new flavor to the examination by adding the aptitude test. Over 4 lakh aspirants applied for the IAS, out of which around 11,000 will be selected for the mains.
Paper-I followed more or less the previous trend of UPSC PT, however number of question has been reduced to 100 from earlier 150.

Paper-II, the aptitude test paper, was the newly introduced paper had 80 questions from General Mental Ability, Comprehension, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Basic Numeracy, Decision-making and Problem-solving, Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability.

The students finds themselves in tricky position as the negative marks has eroded their marks to significant level.

The choices of GS paper were quite close that led the commitment of error while handling the question.
Similar situation was in the Aptitude paper where students find themselves quite comfortable after the examination but post examination matching of answer slides them down.

So the cut-off for the CSAT-2011 will definitely come down substantially low about 45-50% combined.
Paper I= 45 %
Paper II=55%
Chances are strong, that cut off will be decided after combining the Paper I and Paper II.
Solution of Paper II

@Atul:UPSC is not quite transparent about the PH category your marks seems to me bit low as compare to your peers.

The cut off is only the speculation it is very tough to actualize. We can only speculate on the cut off after talking to the more and more participants.

Even UPSC can not know before finalizing the result,Commission makes merit list and take the student as per seat requirement.

Being a student any case you have to study so don't think about result keep reading,

Wishing you all the best

Hello,

I cant exactly predict my score due to several conflicting answers. Based on my evaluation, I am getting 76-84 in paper I and 98-112 in paper II. Taking the conservative estimate, am I safe in the GC?

Thanks

Sir, How about the scores: 36 in Paper 1 and 104 in Paper 2. Total: 140 (SC category).
Kindly let me know whether iam in the safe zone?

Hi Sir,

When are the results going to be announced?

pankaj sir
i checked my paper 1 (84marks) with ALS and with my freinds help and paper 2 (79) with TIME coaching(CAT)
total 163 mark belongs to SC category what are the chances for mains please ...hlp

according to TIME duration for paper2 was 2 hrs so even paper was easy but 75-80 marks should be the cut off for paper 2. i also agrred with TIME beacuse i could attempt 48 quest. in paper 2. please every body check their ans from times answer key for paper 2.

My name is Melvin,
I got 93 marks in P I and 110 in P II
I know i am in safe zone. but i have some
genuine doubts.
I could do well CSAT bcz i took coaching and
my B tech background too helped it, i recently
met some students (from kerala) who could not
well in CSAT Paper 2 but they did well in Paper 1. the paper 2 was easy for those who got well
education..
what about rural people?
many couldnt even read and comprehend completelty the paper 2! particularly non
hindi people, hindi people have passages
in mother tongue..
what about
karalites?
tamil?
kannada?
telugu?
and others...
do you think upsc ignore the rural poor but
serious aspirants?
i have attempted 53 questions in paper 1
i know the effort behind every single question.
i have read 1200 page IYB minimum 8 times and there came only four questions....
each answer has a long story of hardwork behind.
then what equality is there when some cat/mat/bank po and other engg background students socring 150 and above in paper 2 and
claiming a chance for mains whwn thousands who
put hardwork for gs paper for a year or more than that....
please tell, am i wrong?

@Melvin: I am surprised how you could predict your exact scores in both P1 and 2 given the uncertainties and ambiguities in the answer keys. Moreover, P2 has decision making dimension so nobody knows the exact answer and whether UPSC would follow graded/differential marking. You attempted 53 in P1 and scored 93- that means you got almost 47 questions right after negative marking. You are a genius I must say!

Anonymous said...

@Anonymous: Exactly the same thought came to my mind that how can someone get only 6 questions wrong. However it's just a thought, there might be a possibilty of it - so - no comments.

Anyways, very soon the results will be out and we will know the exact situation. I am sure those who have faked there marks and put immense pressure on serious candidates will loose out at the end if there aim was to distract others from mains preparation.

There are speculations of cut-off in the range from 132 (in one of the blogs) to 200+. Most of us, including me, lies in the range of 160-190 and keep thinking whether we clear or not.But those who have controled there mind and studied will be able to clear the real battle.

Lets hope for the best.

Hi Mr.Pankaj
I am Saurabh Garg . I have got 77 in paper 1 and 121 in paper II . What are my Chances of getting through ??You have any idea when the result will be declared .

Anonymous said...

@Anonymous: I agree with you. The problem is that on almost every website candidates are posting inflated scores. This has an adverse impact on analysis and expected cut off. Though serious candidates would rather focus on mains.

I am in the range of 160-175 and I am staying positive. Though P2 was easy but the options were close and dicey. Scores of 150+ in P2 are anything but miracle!
