UPSC CSAT-2011 Cutoff will be at Record Low

www.Goindocal.com

The CSAT -2011 has been successfully conducted by the high profile Central Government recruiter of the India with the brand new pattern.

The UPSC had given the new flavor to the examination by adding the aptitude test. Over 4 lakh aspirants applied for the IAS, out of which around 11,000 will be selected for the mains.
Paper-I followed more or less the previous trend of UPSC PT, however number of question has been reduced to 100 from earlier 150.

Paper-II, the aptitude test paper, was the newly introduced paper had 80 questions from General Mental Ability, Comprehension, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Basic Numeracy, Decision-making and Problem-solving, Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability.

The students finds themselves in tricky position as the negative marks has eroded their marks to significant level.

The choices of GS paper were quite close that led the commitment of error while handling the question.
Similar situation was in the Aptitude paper where students find themselves quite comfortable after the examination but post examination matching of answer slides them down.

So the cut-off for the CSAT-2011 will definitely come down substantially low about 45-50% combined.
Paper I= 45 %
Paper II=55%
Chances are strong, that cut off will be decided after combining the Paper I and Paper II.

  21. i guess you r predicting it too low..

check other sites and you will find majority students scoring 200+..

whats the basic behind your calculation?

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Pankaj - My score is 50 in Paper-I & 126 in Paper-II, total = 176. What do you think are my chances of a call in the mains?

    ReplyDelete

  25. Dear sir, Is 180-183 is enough for mains? pl reply

    ReplyDelete
  26. My score as follows and this is my last attempt so want to know if I I could qualify the exam.

    1. paper II 120
    2. paper I 55
    total : 175

    ReplyDelete
  27. My Basis is quite simple to find the qualifying marks as per my own personal talk with the group of students belongs to various background some statistical tools of permutation combination, i found wide disparity.....in performance.

210 is topper brash......120 is lower.

Maximum student I got close to 150.

Another region is good number of absentee in the CSAT-2011 will reduce the Cut-off.

UPSC will recruit around 900 officers so more result is on the card...

If one had scored around 200 they can be sure by 95%.

    those who had scored:
    185-200....chances are 85%
    170-184....Chances are 75%
Any way 70% chance will be taken as good chance..

    so be optimistic...Because it is
    Unpredictable Public Service Commission(UPSC)

    All the best

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Manoj:It is harsh but in this score it will BE tough for you to get mains card.

Sit and find your week point and draft your strategy for CSAT-2012

    All the best

    ReplyDelete
  29. @ Mayank:Your score looks like brink of making it,u cant take chance go ahead for mains preparation and hope for the best.

Their are more than70% chance is in favor of you

    Wishing you all the best

  33. I gave CSAT just for the heck of it since I had prepared for CAT and I am GK aficionado. My calculated score will be in the range of 210(~55 + ~155). The problem is the subjects I have chosen are Hindi in which I am totally weak, Geography & History which are my fav subjects but I believe answering the mains will require much more than mere interest. My question is I won't be able to start serious prep until Jul 20 due to prior commitments, will I have enough time to cover up for the mains considering my written Hindi is terrible? I'll be obliged by any help, thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  34. my predicted score is
    paper 1 : 65
    paper 2 : 168
    total : 233
what are my chances considering that paper 1 might have a higher cut off ?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sir I scored 65-70 in paper 1.165+ in paper 2.As you have given figures I should clear but I have serious doubts about my performance in paper 1 and paper was just too easy.As far as I could analyse it the average score would be:-
    Paper 1:-around 40.
    Paper 2:-around 90-100

My question is , Is there any surety that UPSC will take combined cutoff?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hi Pankaj sir,
    I scored 157/400,
Any chances for me to clear csat??

    ReplyDelete
  37. In paper - 2 aptitude , it would be naive to predict that cutoff will be lower than 55% because it was the first time and many CAT and bank PO aspirants also might be there in the exam and the final selection would most probably depend on Paper - 1 , GS..because the level of real knowledge blended with quick and right choice of answer is the only thing which equals the all India level and those who score good in paper - 1 (approx more than 40%) can easily qualify CSP..but probability of selection always depends on the intensity of preparation and hardwork..good luck all and keep studying

    ReplyDelete
  38. hi,what could be the cut off for sc and st candidates to clear prelims

    ReplyDelete
  39. category wise cutoff is there for sure because the seats of different categories are reserved and reserved categories are made to compete with their like categories people..I cleared my PCS prelims exams and in states also cutoff depends on combined scores and number of distribution of candidates of different categories because there is no point in giving privilege to a handicapped person if you are making him to compete with others who dont need any privilege..

    ReplyDelete
  40. Cut off for Sc and St candidates depends on the number of sc candidates participated in the exam and how much they score independent of the other general candidates..

    ReplyDelete
  41. my score in paper 1 is 70 and in paper 2 is 100

for sure differential weightage pattern will b followed of which paper1 wud play a key role........ coz upsc need serious candidiates......evn paper2 is heavily scored by ,cat, ssc, bank po junta...and on an avg it was scored by d most ppl

  115. Hello Pankaj Sir, I have calculated my marks on the various answer keys (Quite conflicting indeed!) and depending upon that I would score around 189-195; this was my first attempt, I see you've mentioned 85% of selection chances of mine, Can you suggest how they ope for cutoffs? 185 to 200 itself is a big corridor isnt it ?

Many thanks for your answer in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  116. @Mayank:You are certainly in the corridor of uncertainty as far as your score is concerned.

As you have said that this is your first attempt so don't bother about the result, hope for the best and keep reading for the mains.

    All the best

    ReplyDelete
  117. Hi Pankaj Sir, as per the answer keys it appears that my score would be
    Paper I- 55-65
    Paper II- 160-168

Are the above scores sufficient considering individual paper cut offs for an unreserved candidate. This is my 1 st attempt ??

    Amritav

    ReplyDelete
  118. @Amitav:As per your claimed score you are absolutely in safe zone.
Don't spend your time keep reading for mains prepare for big battel

    ReplyDelete
  128. @Sanju: First i want to correct you that CSAT is not an individual paper it is the name of the test.
Divided into Paper 1 and paper 2.

As far as your chances are concerned you are in the safer side by considering the category.

To begin with it's a compliment; you are doing a phenomenal job, I've checked out many other blogs which are very rude while tackling the students who are in 150-160 range, your physiological approach is truly amazing, I goggled all the answered I've marked and found it to be at 195 to be exact. Should I remain optimistic?
