The CSAT -2011 has been successfully conducted by the high profile Central Government recruiter of the India with the brand new pattern.
The UPSC had given the new flavor to the examination by adding the aptitude test. Over 4 lakh aspirants applied for the IAS, out of which around 11,000 will be selected for the mains.
Paper-I followed more or less the previous trend of UPSC PT, however number of question has been reduced to 100 from earlier 150.
Paper-II, the aptitude test paper, was the newly introduced paper had 80 questions from General Mental Ability, Comprehension, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Basic Numeracy, Decision-making and Problem-solving, Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability.
The students finds themselves in tricky position as the negative marks has eroded their marks to significant level.
The choices of GS paper were quite close that led the commitment of error while handling the question.
Similar situation was in the Aptitude paper where students find themselves quite comfortable after the examination but post examination matching of answer slides them down.
So the cut-off for the CSAT-2011 will definitely come down substantially low about 45-50% combined.
Paper I= 45 %
Paper II=55%
Chances are strong, that cut off will be decided after combining the Paper I and Paper II.

ReplyDeleteFor me its 55 in GS and 153 in Aptitude Test... Do I stand any chance for writing the mains???
ReplyDelete@ Kunal Varshney:Any way 200+ is the best zone to get through in the CSAT-2011.
ReplyDeleteKeep reading for mains
All The Best
Sir,61 in GS and 102 in Aptitude.. Is there any chance for me??
ReplyDelete@Ganesh:160+ is safe in this condition so you should focus on mains.

Hi Pankaj, I am writing my last attempt and have evaluated my marks through the different answer keys provided , I am securing 60 in Paper 1 and 137 in paper 2 i.e 197 combined, what do you think are my chances, since its a new pattern I am not able to guess the cut off, waiting for your reply. Thanks Hitesh

ReplyDeleteKeep reading for mains to earn competitive advantage till CSAT result will we out in August 1st week.

hi pankaj..can you please tell what might be the cutoff for sc candidates (individually and in combined form)?
ReplyDelete@ Pankaj Thanx for your reply thats was realy nice of you to reply so instantly
ReplyDeleteSC ..Candidate will get privilege to make for mains by scoring 135 in the given condition
ReplyDeleteSIR 34 IN GS AND 90 IN APTI..ANY CHANCE...PLEASE SAY CLEARLY

Could you pls advise whether I should look for a job or start for mains. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for the advise and the great work from your end, Rajeeb
I scroed 50 in paper-I and 120 in paper-II what would be my fate... i think i m in the wrong side...
ReplyDeleteSir, I am getting 67 in Paper -I and 115/120 in paper -II. Total 180+ . Is there any chance for me. Though I have started for mains, a little hitch regarding the cutoff. I am from General Category. Regards- Siddhartha Singh
ReplyDeletei guess you r predicting it too low..
ReplyDeletecheck other sites and you will find majority students scoring 200+..
whats the basic behind your calculation?
@Pankaj - My score is 50 in Paper-I & 126 in Paper-II, total = 176. What do you think are my chances of a call in the mains?
ReplyDeleteHi, I have scored 66 in paper1 and 130 in paper2. Total 196... I belong to General category. Is there any chance for me? Thanks. Anoop Tyagi
ReplyDelete@Anoop:You are on the safer side ...Put your efforts for the mains...
ReplyDeleteAll the best
Dear sir, Is 180-183 is enough for mains? pl reply
ReplyDeleteMy score as follows and this is my last attempt so want to know if I I could qualify the exam.
ReplyDelete1. paper II 120
2. paper I 55
total : 175
My Basis is quite simple to find the qualifying marks as per my own personal talk with the group of students belongs to various background some statistical tools of permutation combination, i found wide disparity.....in performance.
ReplyDelete210 is topper brash......120 is lower.
Maximum student I got close to 150.
Another region is good number of absentee in the CSAT-2011 will reduce the Cut-off.
UPSC will recruit around 900 officers so more result is on the card...
If one had scored around 200 they can be sure by 95%.
those who had scored:
185-200....chances are 85%
170-184....Chances are 75%
Any way 70% chance will be taken as good chance..
so be optimistic...Because it is
Unpredictable Public Service Commission(UPSC)
All the best
@Manoj:It is harsh but in this score it will BE tough for you to get mains card.
ReplyDeleteSit and find your week point and draft your strategy for CSAT-2012
All the best
@ Mayank:Your score looks like brink of making it,u cant take chance go ahead for mains preparation and hope for the best.
ReplyDeleteTheir are more than70% chance is in favor of you

hi pankaj sir,
ReplyDeleteas i scored in PAPER I=52 and PAPER II=125
my total is 175/180 what are my chances................plz reply soon
I gave CSAT just for the heck of it since I had prepared for CAT and I am GK aficionado. My calculated score will be in the range of 210(~55 + ~155). The problem is the subjects I have chosen are Hindi in which I am totally weak, Geography & History which are my fav subjects but I believe answering the mains will require much more than mere interest. My question is I won't be able to start serious prep until Jul 20 due to prior commitments, will I have enough time to cover up for the mains considering my written Hindi is terrible? I'll be obliged by any help, thanks.
ReplyDeletemy predicted score is
ReplyDeletepaper 1 : 65
paper 2 : 168
total : 233
what are my chances considering that paper 1 might have a higher cut off ?
Sir I scored 65-70 in paper 1.165+ in paper 2.As you have given figures I should clear but I have serious doubts about my performance in paper 1 and paper was just too easy.As far as I could analyse it the average score would be:-
ReplyDeletePaper 1:-around 40.
Paper 2:-around 90-100
My question is , Is there any surety that UPSC will take combined cutoff?
Hi Pankaj sir,
ReplyDeleteI scored 157/400,
Any chances for me to clear csat??
In paper - 2 aptitude , it would be naive to predict that cutoff will be lower than 55% because it was the first time and many CAT and bank PO aspirants also might be there in the exam and the final selection would most probably depend on Paper - 1 , GS..because the level of real knowledge blended with quick and right choice of answer is the only thing which equals the all India level and those who score good in paper - 1 (approx more than 40%) can easily qualify CSP..but probability of selection always depends on the intensity of preparation and hardwork..good luck all and keep studying
ReplyDeletehi, what could be the cut off for sc and st candidates to clear prelims
ReplyDeletecategory wise cutoff is there for sure because the seats of different categories are reserved and reserved categories are made to compete with their like categories people..I cleared my PCS prelims exams and in states also cutoff depends on combined scores and number of distribution of candidates of different categories because there is no point in giving privilege to a handicapped person if you are making him to compete with others who dont need any privilege..
ReplyDeleteCut off for Sc and St candidates depends on the number of sc candidates participated in the exam and how much they score independent of the other general candidates..
ReplyDeletemy score in paper 1 is 70 and in paper 2 is 100
ReplyDeletei belong to obc catagory .what are chances for me?
sir my score in paper 1 is around 77-82 & in paper 2 around 155.so,total is around 230-235.what is the chance ?
ReplyDeleteI guess for SC/ST candidates cutt off will be in between 150-160.
ReplyDeleteDear Sir
ReplyDeleteI am securing 167(47 in 1st paper and 120 in second) total.what are the chances..

Assuming 110 (GS) and 130 (CSAT), hoping to do well in Mains. To all, this is exam with luck and effort. Please start your preparation for Mains. Thank you,
Rohan.
pankaj sir dont u think their wud b severe cut off in paper 1 ....evn m dead sure their must b different scaling patterns for paper 1 n paper 2....theres no way a single question of paper2 wud b 1.25 times more scoring then a question of paper1...
ReplyDeletefor sure differential weightage pattern will b followed of which paper1 wud play a key role........ coz upsc need serious candidiates......evn paper2 is heavily scored by ,cat, ssc, bank po junta...and on an avg it was scored by d most ppl
UPSC generally follows the combined cut off rule so don't bother about the cut off, result will be declared after counting both the papers.
ReplyDeleteSir i m getting 80 in paper1 and 112 in paper 2...What r my chances...Pls reply

Hello Pankaj Sir, I have calculated my marks on the various answer keys (Quite conflicting indeed!) and depending upon that I would score around 189-195; this was my first attempt, I see you've mentioned 85% of selection chances of mine, Can you suggest how they ope for cutoffs? 185 to 200 itself is a big corridor isnt it ?
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your answer in advance.
@Mayank:You are certainly in the corridor of uncertainty as far as your score is concerned.
ReplyDeleteAs you have said that this is your first attempt so don't bother about the result, hope for the best and keep reading for the mains.
All the best
@Gaurav:Hope for the best.
ReplyDeleteHi Pankaj Sir, as per the answer keys it appears that my score would be

@Karthik Bapat:It is going to be very tough because your marks is quite low.UPSC dont have clear policy about PH,in past they have adjusted in their respective category. In any case CUT off wont come down below 150.
ReplyDeleteDon't feel down try to build your knowledge base for the 2012.

To begin with it's a compliment; you are doing a phenomenal job, I've checked out many other blogs which are very rude while tackling the students who are in 150-160 range, your physiological approach is truly amazing, I goggled all the answered I've marked and found it to be at 195 to be exact. Should I remain optimistic?
ReplyDelete@mayank: Thanks for your compliments. You are close to make in ,keep focus on mains.

Thanks
written 8 mains , clred pre since my 1st attempt ,belongs to st ctgry , interview 5 times , my score is paper1-82,paper2-75.according 2 my experience gs was the BIGGEST TASK bcs its options r to much close.csat was easy bt time taking.paper's standerd deside by the options given and not by the how much ouestion u know. so i think cut off wil b btwen 165 to 180 for genral .
