In the every single minutes a child worker somewhere in the world faces an accident while working in hazardour occupation, illness or trauma, is also the most common regular feature associated with it ILO recently revealed this fact.
World has about 115 million children involved with the hazardous jobs, said the U.N. agency in a report issued ahead of the World Day against Child Labor.
That number had incorporated more than half of the world's roughly 215 million child laborers, who work in various areas from mining and construction to agri-works and manufacturing
.
"Despite important progress over the last decade, the number of children in child labor worldwide -- and particularly in hazardous work -- remains high," ILO Director-General Juan Somavia said in a statement. "Tackling work that jeopardizes the safety, health or morals of children must be a common and urgent priority."
The observation is done by ILO showed that the number of children in hazardous work fell between 2004 and 2008, but the number of child labour, between the ages of 15 and 17 involved in that type of work actually increased by 20 per cent .
It is well known that the Children have higher rates of injury and death at work, with respect to adults, and can be particularly vulnerable as their bodies and minds are still developing.
In Asia and the Pacific most number of children has indulged in hazardous jobs as per ILO reports. Asia is followed by Latin America and the Caribbean and sub-Saharan Africa.
Still, the ILO imphesizing that the issue of children in dangerous occupation is not limited to developing nations only.
The report also cited a 2010 Human Rights Watch study, which looked at the issue of child labor in U.S. agriculture."When I was of 12 year they gave me my first knife. Week after week I was cutting myself. Every week I had a new scar. My hands have a lot of stories," Jose M, told researchers.
