The Civil Services aptitude test (CSAT)is designed to test the aptitude of the candidate to a certain extent . The government of India announced the sketch of the new Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) and changes in the General Studies (GS) paper. Each year about 500000 applicants apply for Civil Services Examination. The Union Public service commission (UPSC) had made available the detailed syllabus on their web site. In new Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), the preliminary exam has replaced by a General Studies paper and there is no Optional Paper. Now the new civil services exam pattern will be CSAT, Main exam and interview.

Selection Grade officers who earn about Rs 44,000., Additional Secretaries who earn about Rs 65,000 . and the Secretary or Cabinet Secretary who earn about Rs 90,000Rs. per month. While this is a generic approximation of remuneration for various jobs, the different branches of different services have different pay scales.
Additional benefits

Besides all these remunerations, salaried civil service servants receive various additional benefits like City compensatory allowance, Leave Travel Allowance, Dearness Allowance, Medical and subsidized housing.
Even though the salary of a person in the civil services may not be as much as the salary of a person working in a private company, the additional allowances and intangibles make up for all this.
