Bumper crop production to lift the economy

Surge in the production of Kharif crops are expected in curent year in Jharkhand as good monsoon concludes after 2 consecutive years of draught.

Paddy yield is expected to go up to approximately 40 lakh tonnes with respect  to previous year’s 7-8 lakh tonnes.

Higher production is expected of maize, oilseeds and pulses as well, even though the total area under cultivation had gone down remarkably this year due to apprehensions of another draught year.

About 7-9 lakh hectares of land was sowed this year, as compared to the normal average of 16 lakh hectares (approx figures).

The good monsoon that has lasted almost a week more has also created very favourable conditions for Rabi crops that would be cultivated soon.
