Mount Kilimanjaro, is Voted Among top 10 Tourist Spot

DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania (eTN) - Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, is voted among top 10   tourist spot and nominated as place for the 7 natural wonders of the world.

Mount Kilimanjaro was listed in a voting campaign which was conducted by an organization known as Seven Natural Wonders in which tourist attractions from across the world are voted to be nominated as the Seven Natural Wonders of The World.

Amongst the 28 contestants which have made it to this stage, only 2 nominations are from Africa, these being Mt. Kilimanjaro and famous  Table Mountain , with tough competition between the 2 African destinations.

It has been anticipated that Tanzania will gain much from the listing of Mount Kilimanjaro in the new list of Seven Natural Wonders of the World and will be able to demonstrate this opportunity to promote Mt. Kilimanjaro as being in Tanzania.

Voting trends have reflected that most people who are voting for Mount Kilimanjaro are foreign holidaymakers and other mountain friends, as compared to Table Mountain which had attracted a good number of South African voters.

Responding to this competition, the Tanzania Tourist Board requested Tanzanians friends of Mount Kilimanjaro, patrons, and holidaymakers across the world to vote for Mount Kilimanjaro into one of the New Seven Natural Wonders Of The World.

Voting is still running  and continue until 11th November  2011 when a finalist will be decleared by the New7Wonders (N7W).
Other nominees are mostly the world's renowned natural features, are the Amazon rainforest in South America; Black Forest in Germany; the Dead Sea in Israel, Jordan, and Palestine; the Great Barrier Reef Australia; Jeju Island, Korea (South); and the Maldives.

Other fascinating tourist-pulling natural features listed for voting are PP Underground River Philippines, Uluru (Ayers Rock) in Australia, and Vesuvius volcano in Italy.
