Rafel Nadal defeated Roger Federer 7-5 7-6 5-7 6-1 to claim his sixth French Open


Paris, June 6: The high voltage big final between two rivals of current era at Roland Garros, was turned in the favor of Spaniard Rafa Nadal. He defeated  Roger Federer 7-5 7-6 5-7 6-1 to claim his sixth French Open. 

Master of clay court won his sixth French Open title and kisses the Bjorn Borg's men's singles record at Roland Garros. With the current win count Nadal will maintain top spot in ranking as it was expected that if Novak Djokovic would have made to finals he would have lost his world number one position. 

Roger Federer, who were looking to beat Nadal at Roland Garros for the first time in five attempts, made good begening with 5-2 lead in the first set but relatively young and clay court genius played some exceptional recovery shots to forced Fedex to commit errors. 

Crowd in Court Philippe Chatrier were mesmerized by the play Nadal, he won seven games in row to move 2-0 ahead in second set. As in last games, between the two geniuses Sunday game was also a master stroke to watch full of exhilarating rallies and spellbinding winners.

Second set was a ray of hope for Federer but he failed to materialize it but Nadal finally made through tiebreak 7-3. In the third set Fedex made some great moves but it was Nadal at its best on Sunday who did not give any chance to capitalize. 

Nadal, who lost one match in seven years at the French Open, won his 10th Grand Slam against best tennis player of all time. In the after match address Nadal said, “It's fantastic to win this final against the player who's certainly the best in the world, the best in history." 

Nadal, who has beaten Federer in six of their eight meetings in grand slam finals, said, "It's a very special, outstanding tournament for me. It's one of my wildest dreams come true."Highly gifted player Federer said in post match address, "Congratulations to Rafel for having won the tournament once again. He played a super match today."
