PATNA: Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) the
prime recruiter of the state of Bihar has not learned from their past
experiences as their most of the examination passes through the court trial at
every stage.
Following the past trend the ongoing recruitment
drive 53 rd 55th Combined Civil services examination is under the scrutiny of
Patna High Court on moderation and reservation related issues.
The main controversy is associated with the
Moderation formula adopted by the BPSC that seems like a merit killer as
alleged by the candidates who thinks that they have paid the price of this
irrational system applied with the marks of the mains examination before giving
the result. .
The candidates are fighting for their cause has
made the strong case before Patna High Court where hearing has been completed
and decision was reserved.
What is this moderation
Issue with the BPSC 53rd 55th Civil Services Examination?
According to the information (Yet to be confirmed
by the BPSC) the candidates who scored more than 60% in their optional paper
has faced reduction of their marks while those who secured 30% has been awarded
additional marks by the moderation formula adopted by the BPSC.
BPSC has said in the court that that they are
following the methods applied by UPSC ,MPSC,KPSC ,GPSC and adopted this formula
after the directives of Patna High Court to make the level playing field for
all the optional field but didn't revealed the exact statistical method in
court room.
The candidates alleging the commission for their
irrational system as it has supported the certain optional by killing the
merit.
Reservation Related Case is
another bump in the way of BPSC
Apart of the Moderation saga the reservation
related issue is also playing in the atmosphere as some candidates alleged the
BPSC about violating the SC guidelines while giving reservation in the
examination by saying that in multistage examination candidates can’t be given multiple
opportunity under reservation category, meaning if a candidate is getting
through category at PT stage of the examination no matter what they have
performed they will be treated under category in next stages.
The uncertainty is looming for the candidates who
appeared in the interview as the matter under the court.
